South Korean Government Commanded to Negotiate with International Committee of the Red Cross

On the 12th, Foreign Minister Jung cabled Choi Du Seon, president of the Korea Red Cross and who was visiting London at the time, to request him to conduct talks with authorities from the International Committee of the Red Cross in Geneva with the goal of repatriating the South Korean civilians abducted by North Korea and the 40,000 POWs detained on Sakhalin Island in the Soviet Union.
President Choi, as a member of the government¡¯s delegation, after activities at the UN, is visiting London on his way to Geneva. He will meet with ICRC President Boissier and Vice-President Juneau to request they mediate on behalf of bringing about the repatriation of abducted civilians as soon as possible.
